There are two different types of Halo 3 skulls available to you during game play. There are your gold skulls that when acquired give you achievements and are worth 10 gamer points when first found. There are 9 of these skulls in total and after you’ve acquired all 9 skulls you will be rewarded with the body and shoulder armor that is called Hayabusa. When you pick up these skulls during game play they will allow you to make the game more challenging, but only if you want it to be.

The next category of skulls is the Silver skulls. These skulls won’t unlock any achievements for you, but they do however tend to make the AI characters more humorous. During game play if you have achieved the IWHBYD skull A.K.A. ‘I Would Have Been Your Daddy’ you will probably hear the AI marine’s yell out “This is Sparta!” or you may hear the AI Brutes say “Pie is good.” There are 4 silver skulls in total that can be found and by collecting them all, it will allow the game play to change either by, physics, dialogue or appearance.

In order for a gamer to obtain these skulls during game play, you have to begin a level from the very beginning on a difficulty level of Normal, or if you want a higher difficulty level. Once you’ve achieved a skull, you do not have to finish the full level you can simply save and quit however there is an exception with the IWHBYD skull. Keep in mind, that it can be frustrating for some gamers to try and obtain all of the skulls, but remember that there are walkthroughs available for you online, to give you hints on where they are located.

These skulls in Halo 3 for xbox were designed by the game makers to allow for a more challenging and a more interesting game play. These skulls are however considered an Easter egg by designers and are located in various places throughout the game. Some gamers may have an idea on where they can be located where other gamers may have to look around all of the level’s until they come across one.
